Join us for a lively talk with Stanford Professor Emerita Janice Ross, a dance historian, as she explores the hidden history of one of the most famous early Sea Ranch homes, the former vacation property of Anna and Lawrence Halprin. Drawing from her newest book on this legendary American art couple, and decades of interviews and research, Ross takes us inside the house that, together with its predecessor, the Halprin home in Kentfield, changed the course of contemporary dance and urban design. Sharing film clips and rare photographs from the legendary 1960s summer workshops the Halprins co-taught at Sea Ranch. Ross explores the surprising role ordinary objects in the Halprin homes and gardens played in shaping them as path-breaking artists.
This talk will be followed with a Q&A and book signing with the author.
