Ulysses Book Club 06.29
- June 29
- 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- The Fireside Lounge
Join us Monday evenings throughout June at The Sea Ranch Lodge for a community reading and discussion inspired by James Joyce’s Ulysses. Part of the worldwide “Ulysses in 80” reading project, these gatherings connect local readers with a global community moving through the novel together one day at a time.
The project is co-led by local resident and writer Mark Sanford Gross alongside Dublin-based Joyce scholar Cliona O’Farrelly of Trinity College Dublin. Local readers may also know Mark through his storytelling project, Write Up the Coast, which focuses on conversation, connection, and shared stories along the Mendocino and Sonoma Coast.
Designed to be welcoming, conversational, and open to all levels of familiarity, the evenings are not academic lectures or formal classes, but a chance to gather, reflect, question, laugh, and share the experience of reading a famously complex and rewarding work alongside others. First-time readers, longtime Joyce enthusiasts, and the simply curious are all encouraged to attend.
Even if you are not actively reading the book, you are warmly welcome to join the conversation, listen in, and experience the spirit of the project: discovering how even the most challenging works of art become more approachable when explored together.
