About The Instructor: Karin Kamb is part EMT, part event producer, and a full-time textile alchemist. One season she might be racing Code 3 in an ambulance, the next she is stitching wool in a sunlit village or unearthing forgotten treasures in a thrift store. A self-described “Jane of many trades,” Karin produces events, helps save lives, and dreams of traveling the world one handmade stitch at a time.
She is a truffle pig at heart, rooting through estate sales, factory discard bins, and flea markets in search of the cast-off and overlooked, because that is where she finds her magic. She turns trash into textiles and scraps into soul, a true Capricorn goat with a sewing bag and a soft spot for the abandoned.
With a Master’s in Cultural Anthropology and a focus on folk art and textiles, Karin spent six years running the Folk Arts Program at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Sewing is her sanctuary, the way she heals, meditates, and reconnects. Travel brings her most alive, giving her the freedom to slip into her alter ego, Annie Finn, and follow curiosity and creative sparks without worrying about outcomes. She lives for those spontaneous, serendipitous artist dates that remind her creativity thrives on novelty, not pressure. If you see someone joyfully digging through a pile of fabric scraps like they just struck gold, it is probably Karin.
